Travis Mydock is a premier criminal defense attorney located in St. Augustine, Florida. Travis was first certified as an expert and specialist in criminal trial law by The Florida Bar from 2017-2022 and recertified from 2022-2027. Board certification requires special knowledge and experience in criminal trial law, in addition to a written examination and peer review. Less than 1% of all licensed attorneys meet the qualifications of a “Board-Certified Specialist in Criminal Trial Law” by The Florida Bar (398 out of 95,836 members in good standing; as of 01/01/2025).

Travis received his business and law degree from the University of Florida. Since becoming a licensed attorney in 2009, he has practiced almost exclusively criminal trial law. His experience spans more than 15 years on both sides of the courtroom as a prosecutor and private defense attorney in northeast Florida. Travis has served as trusted counsel in well over 3,500 criminal cases and 45 criminal jury trials to verdict. Travis currently defends all state criminal cases with a large portion of his practice related to the defense of DUI, domestic violence, gun crimes, drug crimes, and injunctions.

Travis formed Mydock Law in 2016. Prior to his solo-defense practice, Travis served as an Assistant State Attorney for five years in the Seventh Judicial Circuit (Flagler, Putnam, St. Johns and Volusia counties). In 2015, Travis was recognized as the Trial Top Gun by State Attorney R.J. Larizza for his trial work in the Special Investigations Unit (Drugs) and Homicide Investigations Unit.

In 2023, Travis was recognized with The Florida Bar President’s Award for his service to the legal profession and new lawyers.

Travis currently serves as Chairman (2023-2025) of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Seventh Judicial Circuit, State of Florida. He was nominated by The Florida Bar to serve as a Commissioner and was appointed by Governor Ron DeSantis since 2019. As a JNC7 Commissioner, he is responsible for the vetting, interview, and nomination of applicants for judicial vacancies occurring in the Seventh Judicial Circuit (Flagler, Putnam, Saint Johns and Volusia counties).

Travis is a past-president of the St. Johns County Bar Association, St. Johns County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Gator Club of Historic St. Augustine. He has also previously served as Governor for the Seventh Judicial Circuit on The Florida Bar, Young Lawyers Division, Board of Governors. Travis also is a past Chairman of The Florida Bar, Bar Grievance Committee. In this position, he was responsible for the investigation of disciplinary complaints filed against attorneys residing in the Seventh Judicial Circuit.

Travis is rated AV Preeminent ® by Martindale-Hubbell since 2020. This is the highest peer rating standard. It is an objective indicator of a lawyer’s high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations of lawyers by other members of the bar and judiciary. AV is given to attorneys who are ranked at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal expertise, communication skills, and ethical standards.

Travis is also nationally recognized as a “Rising Star” in DUI defense by the publication Super Lawyers®. While up to 5% of the lawyers in a state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5% are named to “Rising Stars” and only two Florida attorneys were selected in the area of DUI defense for the year 2024.
